The VW Passat R-Line introduced in the new Passat range
But the Passat R-Line (which will be available in both saloon and estate versions) is not really an addition to the Passat range, rather a re-working of the current model options. The Passat Sport and Passat SEL are dropped, and the new range now comprises S, R-Line and Highline. But, just as with the Tiguan R-Line, this is not a power upgrade but merely a cosmetic one.

Developed by Citroën Racing – the winning team behind five WRC Manufacturer’s titles and six Driver’s titles for Sébastien Loeb and co-driver Daniel Elena – DS3 Racing has an impeccable sporting pedigree. The specially tuned 1.6-litre THP engine produces 207hp and maximum torque of 275Nm, which means DS3 Racing boasts a top speed of 146mph, a 0-62mph time of just 6.5 seconds and takes just 26.5 seconds to cover 1,000m from a standing start. Based on the top-of-the-range DS3 DSport THP 150, DS3 Racing has been extensively modified, by Citroën Racing, to deliver optimised sporting characteristics and specific equipment from the world of motorsport.
SEAT Leon Cupra and Cupra 280 revealed
SEAT has come out fighting in the hot hatch stakes, and has revealed two versions of the Leon Cupra with up to 276bhp. Based on similar underpinnings to VW’s Golf GTI, the Leon goes much further than the GTI by offering a choice of two Cupra versions, 261bhp in the manual three-door SC or a mighty 276bhp in the Cupra 280. The 261bhp Cupra manages to get to 62mph in 5.9 seconds with the Cupra 280 cutting that to 5.7 seconds when fitted with DSG ‘box, with economy for the manual Cupras at 44.1mpg, and 42.2 mpg if you opt for the DSG ‘box.
